Overview of Gastrointestinal System and Processes<\/h3>\nThere are several supplementary sources you can use to review anatomy and physiology information that is important to know to understand how GI medications work. Figure 7.1[footnote]\"Components of the Digestive System\" <\/a>by CNX OpenStax<\/a> is licensed under CC BY 4.0<\/a> Access for free at https:\/\/openstax.org\/books\/anatomy-and-physiology\/pages\/23-1-overview-of-the-digestive-system<\/a>[\/footnote]<\/sup> illustrates the anatomical components of the gastrointestinal system. Links are provided below to the OpenStax Anatomy and Physiology<\/em> book for further details regarding the following selected areas: overview of the digestive system, digestive system processes and regulation, the stomach, the small and large intestines, and chemical digestion and absorption. Box 7.2 contains links to supplementary videos further explaining the gastrointestinal system and digestive system.
